KATHMANDU: Actor Jitu Nepal spent nearly five to six years working within the group led by Deepak Raj Giri and Deepa Shree Niraula.

During this period, films he featured in—from “Cha Ekan Cha” to “Chhakka Panja”—were commercially successful, and he reportedly earned nearly one crore rupees from some of these projects through profit-sharing agreements.

However, after “Chhakka Panja”, a particular incident led to his departure from the group. Since then, his career trajectory has shown mixed outcomes.

While he was previously limited mostly to supporting roles, he has now been taking on lead roles in films. Movies such as “Harry Ki Pyari” and “Jwai Saab” positioned him at the center, but neither achieved box office success.

His first post-Chhakka Panja project as a lead actor, “Harry Ki Pyari”, failed commercially despite him being the central character.

The same fate followed “Jwai Saab”. Last year’s release “Karsang” further extended his streak of box office disappointments, marking a consecutive run of flops.

Now, Jitu Nepal is preparing for what is being seen as a crucial test of his star power with his upcoming film “I Am Jit Bahadur”, which he has also produced himself.

The pressure is particularly high as the film is expected to help him shed the “flop hero” label.

The challenge extends beyond Jitu Nepal alone. His co-stars Priyanka Karki and Barsha Raut have also been facing a series of underperforming films in recent years.

Priyanka has not delivered a box office hit in the past eight years, while Barsha has seen three consecutive flops following “Mahajatra”.

With all three leading actors currently struggling for box office success, “I Am Jit Bahadur” is shaping up to be a decisive moment—not just for Jitu Nepal, but for the careers of its main cast.
