Life in society has turned very tough: Barsha Raut
Speculations have ranged from her strained relationship with her in-laws to claims of marital discord.
KATHMANDU: Actress Barsha Raut, whose personal life has often been at the center of public discussion and controversy, recently addressed ongoing rumors about her marriage.
Speculations have ranged from her strained relationship with her in-laws to claims of marital discord.
Barsha has repeatedly clarified these issues through social media and the press.
On Sunday, amidst divorce rumors, Barsha appeared with her husband Sanjog Koirala for a television interview.
However, some of her words during the interview directed at her husband have sparked criticism, with many accusing her of showing disrespect.
Responding to the backlash, Barsha wrote on Facebook on Monday that living in society has become increasingly difficult for her.
She stated, “Sometimes, circumstances push a person to contemplate suicide—not out of their own will, but due to societal expectations, pressures, and injustices. Our society always forces people to wear a mask that everything is fine, yet it is never willing to correct the mistakes, inequalities, and injustices within.”
Barsha expressed frustration over society’s double standards, noting that while women are expected to remain silent when insulted by their husbands, even using a simple word like ‘you’ in reference to a spouse can provoke criticism. She believes such bias, injustice, and hypocrisy quietly weaken people mentally and emotionally.
She added, “Sometimes I wonder why living in this society is so difficult. The society itself needs correction, yet no one wants to change. This is why people feel lonely, exhausted, and sometimes drawn toward darkness. Living in this society has truly become very hard for me.”
