Maoist Centre to nominate own candidates in Ilam & Bajhang

The official meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, decided to nominate candidates for Ilam 2 in the House of Representatives and Bajhang 1 in the State Assembly on behalf of the party.

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-Maoist Centre is going to field its own party’s candidates in the by-elections of Ilam and Bajhang.

The official meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, decided to nominate candidates for Ilam 2 in the House of Representatives and Bajhang 1 in the State Assembly on behalf of the party.

Agni Prasad Sapkota informed that the meeting decided to submit his own party’s candidacy in the by-elections of the House of Representatives in Ilam and the State Assembly in Bajhang.

According to him, the name of the candidate is still pending and will be decided in the next meeting.

Spokesperson Sapkota said, “Today’s meeting of our party central office has decided to raise it in the election of the House of Representatives in Ilam and also in the election of the State Assembly in Bajhang.” A recommendation is coming to make a decision about the person, the discussion is pending, maybe a decision will be made in the next meeting.

He said that since the discussion about the appointment of the Chief Minister in the state has not yet been concluded, the Chief Ministers will also be decided by Thursday.

The by-election date has been fixed on April 28.
