Bajhang by-election: Congress candidate still maintains lead

KATHMANDU: Vote count in continuing in Bajhang Constituency 1, State Assembly (A).

As per the latest updates, Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Abhishek Singh has increased his lead in Bajhang State Assembly Constituency No. 1 (1). UML’s Daman Bhandari maintained the lead from the start.

Currently, he is behind Singh of Congress by 284 votes.

Earlier, there was a difference of 264 votes.

According to the Election Commission, in the counting of votes so far, Singh of the Congress has secured 8,492 votes.

He is being followed by UML candidate Bhandari by getting 8,208 votes.

Maoist’s Janak Bahadur Budha is in the third position with 2,815 votes, while Dil Bahadur Singh of the Unified Samajwadi Party is in the fourth position with 2,102 votes.

So far, the counting of votes of Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality, Thalara Rural Municipality-9, Khaptadchanna Rural Municipality, Jayaprithvi Municipality and Surma Rural Municipality has been completed.

A total of 30,328 votes or 49.12 per cent votes were cast in the by-election in Bajhang State Assembly (A).

There were 61,748 voters in the constituency. A total of 11 candidates were in the race in Bajhang by-election.
