KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ramprasad Bhandari has said voters are eagerly awaiting the upcoming election day.

Speaking at an event on Thursday marking the 10th Election Day, he predicted that the House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 will see the highest voter turnout in the country’s history.

Bhandari claimed that the number of invalid votes is expected to be the lowest compared to previous elections. While most votes are anticipated to be valid, a small percentage may still be rejected.

He noted that voter education programs conducted by the Election Commission have been designed to minimize invalid ballots by teaching voters the correct voting procedure.

However, Bhandari emphasized that creating a voter-friendly environment—ensuring voters can easily reach polling stations—is the responsibility of all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, leaders, and party workers.

He warned that if the necessary environment is not provided, even willing voters might be discouraged from participating.

The Election Commission celebrated the 10th Election Day on Thursday with a special program and released a commemorative publication.

Awards related to the day will be announced in a separate event on April 14.
