KATHMANDU: Sunderland maintained their unbeaten home record after holding Everton to a 1–1 draw in the English Premier League on Monday.

At the Stadium of Light, captain Granit Xhaka scored the equalizer for Sunderland after the visitors had taken the lead.

Iliman Ndiaye put Everton ahead in the 15th minute, netting for the third consecutive game.

However, just 42 seconds into the second half, Xhaka’s powerful strike deflected off James Tarkowski and found the back of the net to level the score.

Everton’s Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry both missed clear chances in the first half, forcing the visitors to settle for a draw.

With the result, Sunderland move up to fourth place in the table with 18 points, while Everton climb to 14th with 12 points.
