KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has informed bidders that the previously designated exclusive TV broadcasting rights for the Nepal Premier League (NPL) have been revised to non-exclusive rights.

This adjustment comes following Star Sports’ decision to collaborate with CAN to provide live television coverage both within Nepal and internationally.

According to CAN’s official communication, “The Right Holder was originally granted exclusive television broadcasting rights for the entire league, covering all live matches, highlights, and related content. With Star Sports now joining as an official broadcaster, these rights have been converted to non-exclusive.”

CAN highlighted that the partnership with Star Sports is expected to significantly boost the global profile of Nepali cricket, enabling NPL matches to reach broader audiences across South Asia and beyond.

However, due to Nepal’s clean-feed broadcasting regulations, Star Sports’ telecasts will not include advertisements.

The governing body had requested all existing bidders to revise and resubmit their proposals to the CAN office by 12:00 PM on Wednesday to reflect the updated non-exclusive broadcast conditions.

The NPL’s second season is set to kick off soon at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, with several international players already confirmed to participate.
