KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan Police has a new chief as SP Bishnu Prasad Joshi officially took charge today.

Joshi assumes the position following the resignation of former chief SSP Rajunath Pandey.

Joshi, a senior officer, previously served as head of Disaster Management and mid-zone command within the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police

He also acted as the interim chief when Pandey was suspended by Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain.

Pandey resigned yesterday, alongside Mayor Balendra Shah, citing his decision to enter politics.

With Pandey’s resignation approved, Joshi formally assumed the responsibilities of the metropolitan police chief today.

Immediately after taking office, Joshi held discussions with senior police officials and issued necessary directives to strengthen operations within the metropolitan force.
