KATHMANDU: A total of 2,300 drivers were penalized for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.084 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 104 drivers for drink-driving, 177 for operating ride-sharing services illegally, 147 for running red lights, and 105 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 56 drivers were penalized for lane discipline violations, 152 for using horns in prohibited areas, 113 for parking on sidewalks, and 141 for driving on one-way roads.

Another 1,305 motorists faced action for various other traffic rule violations.
