RPP & RPP Nepal merge into single party
With the unification of Rajendra Lingden-led RPP and Kamal Thapa-led RPP Nepal, royalist and nationalist forces in the country are now consolidated.
KATHMANDU: The long-standing division between the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal) has come to an end, as the two parties have officially merged.
With the unification of Rajendra Lingden-led RPP and Kamal Thapa-led RPP Nepal, royalist and nationalist forces in the country are now consolidated.
During the ceremony, both party leaders, Rajendra Lingden and Kamal Thapa, jointly unveiled the unity declaration. Earlier, on Poush 9, the leaders had signed a unity agreement at the RPP central office in Dhumbahari.
Kamal Thapa had left RPP and formed RPP Nepal after losing the party’s presidential race at the 2078 RPP general convention.
This merger, four years later, is expected to consolidate royalist votes ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
