KATHMANDU: Real Madrid continued their impressive La Liga run with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, despite being reduced to 10 men.

The victory marked Madrid’s fourth consecutive league win.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Sociedad.

Despite defender Dejan Huijsen receiving a red card in the 32nd minute, leaving Madrid a man down, the team maintained their composure.

Mbappe later assisted Arda Güler for a second goal in the 44th minute, giving Madrid a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Sociedad reduced the deficit in the 56th minute when Dani Carvajal’s handball led to a penalty, which Mikel Oyarzabal successfully converted. Madrid, however, held firm defensively to secure the win.

Trent Alexander-Arnold came on for Carvajal in the 82nd minute to reinforce the backline.

With 12 points from four games, Real Madrid sit atop the La Liga table. Barcelona, currently fifth, will face Valencia later tonight.
