Harisharan Lamichhane, elder brother of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, has hinted at entering the race for Kathmandu’s next mayor.
KATHMANDU: As political circles heat up following the seven-point agreement between the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, a new development has added fresh momentum to the debate.
Harisharan Lamichhane, elder brother of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, has hinted at entering the race for Kathmandu’s next mayor.
In a statement shared on social media on Sunday, Harisharan publicly expressed his views on the recent agreement and signaled his political ambitions.
Referring to the RSP–Balen understanding as a “brothers’ agreement,” Harisharan said he welcomed the deal with happiness and respect. However, alongside endorsing the agreement, he also revealed his own aspirations for city leadership.
In a clear message, he stated that there is a “strong possibility” of his independent candidacy for the post of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the upcoming local elections.
