KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Lyon on Sunday after João Neves scored in stoppage time, sending the defending champions back to the top of Ligue 1.
PSG, who also secured a late win against Nice last week, once again relied on a decisive goal in the final moments to claim all three points.
Warren Zaïre-Emery opened the scoring in the 26th minute, converting Vitinha’s through pass to give PSG the lead.
However, Afonso Moreira equalized for Lyon just four minutes later. The hosts restored their advantage in the 33rd minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia capitalized on a high press initiated by Vitinha.
Lyon struck again early in the second half, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles firing a fine finish to make it 2-2 in the 50th minute.
The match tilted in PSG’s favor when Lyon’s Nicolás Tagliafico received a second yellow card, reducing his side to 10 men.
PSG eventually made the numerical advantage count, as João Neves headed home from Lee Kang-in’s corner in the fifth minute of added time to seal the win.
With the victory, PSG lead Ligue 1 with 27 points from 12 matches, while Lyon sit seventh with 20 points.
