KATHMANDU: Vice Chair of the CPN-UML, Surendra Pandey, emphasized the significant role of China in ensuring global stability and political consistency.

Speaking at the “Nepal-China Economic and Business Summit 2025” held in Kathmandu on Friday, Pandey stated that the current political developments worldwide could lead to a fundamental shift in the global political order, with China closely monitoring these changes.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening Nepal’s fragile economy by creating an environment for tourism exchanges with China.

Pandey suggested that attracting 5 million Chinese tourists annually could significantly boost Nepal’s economy, leading to a considerable change in GDP in a short time.

Pandey also stressed the need to utilize Nepal’s domestic production sectors to advance economically, stating that relying solely on aid from donors would not lead to sustainable growth. He advocated for a production-oriented approach to strengthen the country’s economy.

Furthermore, he called for a serious evaluation of the potential economic and political impacts that the changing global environment could have on Nepal.

Vice Chair Pandey reaffirmed Nepal’s steadfast commitment to the “One China” policy, emphasizing China’s key role in Nepal’s development across various sectors, including the economy.
