KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on table-toppers Oman today in the Super Six stage of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifiers — a match that could prove decisive in Nepal’s journey to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Having already registered thrilling victories over the UAE by one run and Qatar by five runs, Nepal have made a strong statement in the Super Six round.
The high-stakes encounter against Oman will begin at 8:45 PM tonight (Nepal time).
A win would guarantee Nepal a direct qualification for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be hosted in India and Sri Lanka.
Both Nepal and Oman currently sit on six points each, with Oman leading the table on net run rate and Nepal following closely behind in second place.
The UAE and Japan occupy third and fourth positions with two points apiece, while Qatar and Samoa remain winless.
Out of the six teams competing in the Super Six (Nepal, Oman, UAE, Japan, Qatar, and Samoa), the top three will secure berths in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
If Nepal defeat Oman tonight, they will clinch qualification ahead of their final match against Samoa on Friday.
