Nepal Airlines offers discounted fares on Dang–Kathmandu flights
The regular fare of Rs 8,775 has been lowered to Rs 7,645 for eligible passengers.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines has introduced discounted airfares for vulnerable groups traveling from Tarigaun Airport in Tulsipur, Dang.
According to station chief Bal Bahadur Sunar, passengers who are elderly, children, persons with disabilities, and those who are financially vulnerable will receive reduced fares on the Dang–Kathmandu flight.
The regular fare of Rs 8,775 has been lowered to Rs 7,645 for eligible passengers.
Currently, the airline operates flights from Tarigaun four days a week—Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
However, Sunar noted that passenger numbers have remained low, with daily bookings rarely exceeding four to five travelers.
While the number of passengers usually remains steady until the month of Kartik, it has declined significantly in recent weeks.
He added that students, senior citizens, and passengers in special categories are also eligible for certain concessions.
Tarigaun Airport faces operational limitations due to its short 750-meter runway, which cannot accommodate larger aircraft.
Even 19-seater planes often experience irregular operations, forcing many travelers to opt for flights from Bhairahawa or Nepalgunj instead.
Established in 2011 B.S., the airport has long faced calls for runway expansion to improve service reliability and increase passenger capacity.
