NC VP Gurung sees nothing unusual in Rabi-Balen alliance

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung has said that the recent alliance between the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah is not unusual.
Speaking to reporters at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Gurung stated that the agreement between RSP President Rabi Lamichhane and Mayor Shah is a routine political development.
He added that it is not Congress’s concern who aligns or splits in politics.
“Political alliances and splits happen all the time. Therefore, there is nothing unusual about the Rabi-Balen agreement,” Gurung said.
“Politics is full of challenges. Nepali Congress has faced historic challenges—from the Rana era to the Panchayat system—so we do not see this as a serious issue.”
He emphasized that politics never progresses in a simple manner and that the party is always prepared to face any challenge.
