MP Gaire demands immediate fix for biometric service issues for seniors
He questioned both the capacity and quality of the servers being used and urged the government to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Thakur Gaire of the CPN-UML has raised concerns over the difficulties faced by senior citizens and social security beneficiaries across the country due to the ongoing biometric registration process.
Speaking at the House of Representatives session on Friday, Gaire highlighted that server outages in the government’s system are causing significant inconvenience to citizens.
He questioned both the capacity and quality of the servers being used and urged the government to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
“Across municipalities and ward offices, elderly and vulnerable citizens are lining up to receive their social security and senior citizen benefits. During my visits to several wards, I found offices overcrowded with senior citizens, some of whom waited for two to three days without any progress. When asked why this is happening, the answer is always the same—server downtime. Whether it is due to insufficient server capacity or technical quality, why has the problem persisted? Why hasn’t the government taken proactive steps to address it?” Gaire said.
He further urged the government to arrange for services to be delivered directly to the homes of the elderly and physically challenged citizens, ensuring they do not have to endure unnecessary hardship.
Gaire also called for an immediate resolution to the server issues to streamline the biometric registration process.
