KATHMANDU: Fewer than 1,500 delegates are yet to vote in the leadership election of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), despite around 4,200 representatives taking part in the party’s national convention.

According to an RSP leader, most candidates defeated in the central committee election have already left the convention venue.

Many of their supporters and proposers also departed, leaving only around 400–500 people at the polling site.

As a result, the leader said it is unlikely that more than 1,500 additional votes will be cast.

Voting, however, has been progressing swiftly since it began at 1:00 p.m., mainly because delegates have to vote for fewer candidates.

More than 100 delegates had already cast their ballots shortly after polling opened.

In the earlier central committee election, 2,959 votes were cast, while 1,352 delegates did not participate in the voting process.
