KATHMANDU: Kylian Mbappé struck twice as Real Madrid cruised to a commanding 4–0 victory over Valencia on Saturday, strengthening their lead at the top of La Liga to seven points.
At Santiago Bernabéu, Mbappé netted both of his goals within the opening 31 minutes.
Real had a chance to extend their lead further, but Valencia goalkeeper Julen Aguirrezabala denied Vinícius Júnior’s penalty.
Jude Bellingham added a brilliant third goal just before halftime, giving Madrid a dominant 3–0 advantage.
Álvaro Carreras sealed the emphatic win with a goal in the 82nd minute — ensuring Madrid’s fourth straight victory.
Mbappé opened the scoring from the spot in the 19th minute after César Tárrega handled a corner from Franco Mastantuono.
Twelve minutes later, he volleyed home Arda Güler’s cross following a fine pass from Bellingham.
Though Vinícius missed from the spot in the 43rd minute, Bellingham quickly made amends with a composed finish a minute later.
The second half saw Madrid comfortably control possession before Carreras’ late strike wrapped up the result.
With this win, Real Madrid have now won 10 of their last 11 matches, sitting firmly atop the table with 30 points.
Villarreal moved into second place after a 4–0 triumph over Rayo Vallecano.
