Man caught with Rs 12 lakh silver at Chandragiri checkpoint

KATHMANDU: Police at the Chandragiri Municipality-2 checkpoint have arrested a man carrying silver valued at around Rs 12 lakh.

The suspect, identified as Asu Saab from Parsa’s Pheta Rural Municipality-6, was apprehended after a routine inspection of a passenger bus traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu.

Authorities recovered nearly three kilograms of illegally transported silver pellets from his bag, the Chandragiri Police Post reported.

The arrested individual, along with the seized silver, has been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office for further investigation, according to Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Office.
