KATHMANDU: Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has strongly criticized the growing indiscipline and deviation within the party, instructing leaders and cadres to stand firm and confront such tendencies.

Amid mounting criticism from senior leaders regarding the party’s and the government’s leadership, Nepal reaffirmed his belief in the bright future of the communist movement.

Speaking at an event held in Kirtipur on Wednesday to mark the 47th Pushpalal Memorial Day, he urged members not to be disheartened by challenges or abandon the political field.

“There is no need to be dismayed or to flee in the face of challenges. Internal matters should be discussed within the party, not in public,” he said, warning that those who act against party principles, speak irresponsibly, or breach discipline would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Nepal emphasized that confronting such behavior is essential to maintaining party discipline, which in turn builds public trust. “Only a disciplined party can give people hope,” he added.

He further stated that with courage to face ideological and organizational challenges, it is possible to develop a sound ideology and a strong party structure. He also reaffirmed the relevance and practicality of democratic centralism as the guiding organizational principle.

Nepal’s remarks came shortly after senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Bamdev Gautam publicly criticized the party’s and government’s leadership during the same program.
