Liverpool end losing streak, Chelsea climb to fifth in Premier League
Both Tottenham and Chelsea are level on 17 points, with Spurs holding fourth place on goal difference.
KATHMANDU: Liverpool snapped their four-match losing streak with a 2–0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday. Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch were on target for the Reds.
Salah struck in first-half injury time, capitalizing on a blunder by Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. The goal marked Salah’s 250th for Liverpool. Gravenberch doubled the lead in the 58th minute to seal the win.
With the victory, Liverpool moved up to third in the table with 18 points, though still seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal. Aston Villa remain 11th.
In another fixture, Chelsea edged Tottenham 1–0 in the London derby to rise to fifth place. João Pedro scored the decisive goal in the 34th minute, converting from close range after a clever pass from Moisés Caicedo.
