Husband sets wife on fire in Sunsari

KATHMANDU: A routine household argument in Sunsari’s Duhabi turned horrifying when a husband allegedly set his wife on fire.

Police report that 33-year-old Mustafa Sheikh doused his 28-year-old wife, Khusbu Khatun, with petrol and ignited it at their home near Muktinath Temple, Ward No. 3.

Quick action by neighbors helped alert authorities and likely saved her life.

The victim was initially treated at a local community hospital, but severe burns on her hands, neck, chest, and face required her transfer to Paras Hospital in Biratnagar for specialized care.

Mustafa Sheikh has been taken into custody, and preliminary investigations suggest the attack stemmed from domestic conflict.
