KATHMANDU: Erling Haaland fired Manchester City to victory with a brilliant brace as they defeated Bournemouth 3–1 in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.

With this win, City climbed to second place in the standings with 19 points from 10 matches, six points behind leaders Arsenal.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 17th minute and struck again in the 33rd, both times assisted by Ryan Cherki.

Bournemouth managed to equalize in the 25th minute when Tyler Adams capitalized on a mistake by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but Haaland’s second goal restored City’s lead before halftime.

Despite Bournemouth’s efforts to find another equalizer in the second half, City maintained control of the game. In the 60th minute, Nico O’Reilly sealed the win with a fine finish to make it 3–1.

In another Premier League fixture on Sunday, West Ham United also recorded a 3–1 victory over Newcastle United.
