KATHMANDU: Gagan Kumar Thapa, President of Nepali Congress, has pledged to make Nepal corruption-free within the next five years.

Speaking at the “Our Pledge, Your Questions” public manifesto presentation and Q&A program held at Rastriya Sabha Griha in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Thapa said the party would take action against corruption without protecting anyone based on personal or political ties.

“Whether it is the party chairperson or anyone holding public office, if found guilty of corruption, they have no right to remain in public office,” Thapa said.

He announced that corruption cases involving leaders from any political party since 2047 would be investigated. Emphasizing governance reform, Thapa said public services must be citizen-centric rather than office-centric, and all services must be delivered within clearly defined timeframes.

He further stated that service delivery deadlines should be publicly specified, and citizens must be compensated if services are delayed.
“If a public service is promised to be delivered in one day, it must be completed within that same day,” he said.

Thapa also highlighted plans to expand digital public services to operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

He added that the party has proposed systematic provisions for citizen compensation in cases of delays in public service delivery.

The Nepali Congress has included these commitments as part of its structured policy roadmap ahead of upcoming elections, aiming to strengthen transparency, accountability, and citizen trust in public institutions.
