KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah arrived in Kathmandu today, greeted by a large crowd of supporters at the airport.
As he exited the chopper, well-wishers chanted slogans such as “Our King, Our Country” and “King, Come Save the Nation,” while Shah waved in acknowledgement.
Despite a local prohibitory order, many people gathered at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), planning to accompany him in a rally to Nirmal Niwas.
Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign Nepal,” welcomed Shah at the airport.
Security has been tightened, with personnel deployed across key areas in Kathmandu.
Shah arrived in the capital from Jhapa via helicopter.
