KATHMANDU: Royalist supporters, including leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), plan to gather at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Friday to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah.

Despite a prohibitory order imposed by the Kathmandu administration around the airport, party leaders, including Kamal Thapa and Dhawal Shumsher Rana, will participate.

Only the national flag will be displayed, and no party banners will be used.

The administration has prohibited gatherings of more than five people for protests or demonstrations within the airport area, including terminals, parking, and surrounding roads, citing election code of conduct.

The welcome program is scheduled for midday at the domestic terminal.
