KATHMANDU: Narayan Das Manandhar, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prime Commercial Bank Limited and a senior figure in Nepal’s banking sector, has passed away.

Prime Commercial Bank Limited has announced the passing of Narayan Das Manandhar, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a senior figure in Nepal’s banking sector. He passed away on Sunday at the age of 82.

The bank stated that Manandhar’s long-standing leadership in the banking and financial sector leaves an irreplaceable void.

Manandhar began his career in 1969 as a branch manager at the Land Reform and Savings Corporation and went on to hold key national and international positions throughout his life.

His notable roles included CEO of the National Rice and Grains Corporation, departmental head and deputy general manager at Agricultural Development Bank, general manager of the Rice and Grains Export Company, consultant at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, executive director of Rastriya Banijya Bank, and CEO of Lumbini Bank Limited.

He also served at the World Bank’s Hydropower Development Fund, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, and finally as CEO of Prime Commercial Bank Limited before retiring.

The bank emphasized that Manandhar’s extensive experience, leadership, and contributions have earned him a special place in Nepal’s banking history. “His passing is a great loss to Nepal’s economic community,” the bank said in a statement.

Prime Commercial Bank extended heartfelt condolences to Manandhar, wishing eternal peace to his soul, and offered support and strength to his bereaved family and the bank’s staff.
