KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has completed arrangements for 90,000 ballot boxes required for the election of members of the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.

Ballot boxes needed for polling centers in Kathmandu and Lalitpur have been stored at the Commission’s central office, as the district election offices in both districts lack adequate storage space.

In Chitwan, 2,500 ballot boxes have been dispatched from the Election Commission’s central office after ballot boxes were burned during the Gen Z movement on Sept 9.

The information was shared by Prakash Neupane, Chief of the Administration Division and Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission.

In Bhaktapur, the District Election Office has stored the ballot boxes, and arrangements have been made to transport them directly to polling centers from there.

For the remaining 74 districts, the Commission stated that ballot boxes sent in 2079 will be used from existing stock.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 967 polling stations and 23,112 polling centers have been designated for this election.
