Cyclist killed in truck collision in Itahari

KATHMANDU: A 40-year-old cyclist died after being hit by a truck this evening in Itahari, Sunsari.

The incident occurred around 5:50 PM when a truck bearing registration number Province 1–02–002 Kh 0592, traveling from Itahari towards Dharan, struck Kumar Shrestha of Sundarharaicha, Morang.

Shrestha was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chandra Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office.

His body has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for postmortem examination.

The truck driver, 27-year-old Dil Bahadur Magar from Tehrathum, has been taken into police custody, and further investigations are underway.
