KATHMANDU: Chelsea moved up to second place in the Premier League on Saturday after a convincing 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, while league leaders Arsenal were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Sunderland.

Manchester United, meanwhile, avoided defeat with a stoppage-time equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur.

At Stamford Bridge, Alejandro Garnacho delivered a standout performance for Chelsea.

He created the opening goal in the 51st minute with a pinpoint cross that Malo Gusto headed in for his first Premier League goal.

Joao Pedro doubled the lead in the 65th minute, marking his 100th Premier League strike.

The third also came from Garnacho’s creativity, as his assist in the 73rd minute allowed Pedro Neto to seal a comfortable victory for the Blues.

With the win, Chelsea climbed to second in the league table on 20 points. Wolves remain bottom with just 2 points.

Arsenal Stopped Late

Arsenal were denied a fifth straight league win after Sunderland equalised deep into stoppage time. Dan Ballard put Sunderland ahead in the 36th minute, before Bukayo Saka levelled for the Gunners early in the second half.

Leandro Trossard’s 74th-minute strike looked set to secure the win, but in added time Brian Brobbey flicked in Ballard’s header to make it 2-2.

The draw keeps Arsenal top on 26 points, while Sunderland rise to fourth with 19 points.

United Escape Defeat

Manchester United also needed a late goal to avoid defeat against Tottenham.

Bryan Mbeumo scored in the 32nd minute to give United the lead, but Mathys Tel equalised for Spurs in the 84th minute.

Richarlison then completed a quick turnaround in the first minute of stoppage time to put Tottenham 2-1 up.

However, in the sixth minute of added time, Matthijs de Ligt headed in from a Bruno Fernandes corner to secure a 2-2 draw for United.
