Chaulagain takes charge of Physical Infrastructure, greenlights key projects

KATHMANDU: Madhav Prasad Chaulagain, previously Minister for Forests and Environment, has assumed the role of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
On taking charge, he signed a decision to include the Karnali Highway in upcoming pipeline projects for road safety and upgrading, requesting support from the Asian Development Bank.
He also approved the relocation of an existing Bailey bridge from the Hima River on the Jumla-Kalikot border to connect Tila River in Jumla’s Tatopani Rural Municipality–5 with Hanku in Tatopani–4.
Additionally, Chaulagain signed a decision to form a five-member committee, led by Secretary Sushil Babu Dhakal, to review and recommend updates to the eligibility criteria for ‘Class G’ construction contractors under Schedule 13 of the Construction Business Regulations, 2056.
Chaulagain was assigned the ministry after former Physical Infrastructure Minister Kulman Ghising resigned on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Sushila Karki entrusting him with the responsibility.
