Bus carrying election-bound security forces crashes, 24 hurt

KATHMANDU: A bus carrying Nepalese Army personnel en route for election duty crashed near Setibagar in Bhojpur Municipality–3 on Wednesday.
The vehicle, bearing registration number Na 4 Kha 7317, was transporting 24 army personnel along with the driver and one other passenger, totaling 26 on board.
According to Raju Lama, Chief of the District Police Office, Bhojpur, all 24 personnel sustained injuries when the bus fell off a sharp bend near the roadside.
Eight of the injured, in critical condition, were airlifted by two army helicopters to Kathmandu for advanced medical treatment, while the remaining victims are receiving care at Bhojpur District Hospital.
The accident occurred as the army’s Naya Srinath Battalion, stationed in Bhojpur, was being deployed to West Temke Maiyung Rural Municipality to assist with election security preparations. Authorities are investigating the incident.
