Bara double killing: Extramarital affair leads to murder
Police say the attack highlights long-standing family tensions and are continuing their investigation.
KATHMANDU: Two people were killed and three injured in a brutal late-night attack at the home of Jagruk Mandal in Parwanipur Rural Municipality-1, Bara, on Tuesday.
Police say a man armed with a knife entered the house around midnight, stabbing 46-year-old Sumitra Mandal (mother) and 31-year-old Ram Ishwar Mandal (son) to death.
Jagruk, his 21-year-old daughter Rina Kumari, and daughter-in-law 23-year-old Manita were injured and taken to LS Neuro Hospital, Parwanipur.
Investigators report the attack was pre-planned, driven by an extramarital relationship between Manita and 27-year-old Dharmendra Mahato, recently returned from the UAE.
Manita allegedly facilitated Dharmendra’s entry after cutting the house electricity and luring her mother-in-law outside.
Manita and Dharmendra were arrested Wednesday; both face charges of culpable homicide.
Police say the attack highlights long-standing family tensions and are continuing their investigation.
