Hearing on Bishnu Paudel’s writ petition on June 30
Paudel’s wife, Domaya Paudel, filed the petition on June 24 (Asar 10), alleging that he has been unlawfully detained.
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is set to hear a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Bishnu Prasad Paudel on June 30 (Asar 16), following his arrest in a money laundering investigation.
Paudel’s wife, Domaya Paudel, filed the petition on June 24 (Asar 10), alleging that he has been unlawfully detained.
A bench led by Justice Shreekanta Paudel has ordered the Office of the Attorney General to submit a written response by June 29 (Asar 15) before proceeding with the hearing.
Paudel was arrested on June 22 (Asar 8) from Surkhet in connection with a money laundering case and presented before the Special Court the following day.
The court has already granted investigators permission to hold him in custody for seven days.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation is currently continuing its probe against him.
