Atletico Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 3-2

KATHMANDU: Atletico Madrid secured their second win of the La Liga season after a thrilling 3-2 comeback against Rayo Vallecano at the Riyadh Metro Stadion.

Julian Alvarez starred for Atletico, scoring a hat-trick.

The home side took an early lead in the 15th minute through Alvarez’s volley. However, Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria equalized in first-half injury time with a stunning strike from around 35 yards.

Rayo then went ahead in the 77th minute with a goal from Alvaro Garcia, but Atlético responded in spectacular fashion. Alvarez scored twice more in the 80th and 88th minutes to complete his hat-trick and secure the victory.

With this win, Atlético Madrid move up to ninth place in the La Liga table with 9 points, while Rayo Vallecano remain in 14th.

In other matches, Real Sociedad edged Mallorca 1-0, and Getafe drew 1-1 with Alaves.
