Nepal ‘A’ suffers defeat against Ireland Wolves

After chasing a huge target of 223 runs for victory, Nepal managed to score only 201 runs by going all out.

KATHMANDU: Nepal ‘A’ suffered a loss against Ireland Wolves despite the latter setting a challenging target of 223 runs.

Chasing the massive target, Nepal ‘A’ fell short, managing to score only 201 runs. Although opener Lokesh Bam played a brilliant century, Nepal’s efforts to secure a victory were unsuccessful.

Nepal ‘A’ failed to achieve the target despite a solid partnership between Lokesh and Aarif Sheikh, who contributed 121 runs for the fourth wicket. Lokesh scored 106 runs off 56 balls, including 9 fours and 8 sixes, before being dismissed in the 16th over. Aarif scored 49 runs off 26 balls, smashing 1 four and 5 sixes.

Nepal’s opening pair, Lokesh and Vinod Bhandari, added 16 runs in 14 balls. Dev Khanal was dismissed for a duck, while Arjun Giri managed only 3 runs in 5 balls.

In the middle order, Kiran Thagunna scored 2 runs, Basir Ahmad 3 runs, and Rashid Khan, Hemant Dhami, and Kamal Airee couldn’t contribute with the bat.

For Ireland, Fionn Hand and Matthew Humphreys claimed 3 wickets each, while Matthew Foster took 2, and Thomas Metz and Gavin Hoey took 1 wicket each.

Huge target of 223 runs

Ireland Wolves, who batted first, set Nepal ‘A’ a huge target of 223 runs. They scored 222 runs losing 5 wickets in scheduled 20 overs.

Opener Peter Moor scored 49 runs for Ireland. Cade Carmichael and captain Neil Rock also contributed 38-38 runs for the team.

Stephen Doheny also scored 34 runs. Gareth Delaney remained unbeaten on 30 runs. Gavin Hoey also added 18 runs unbeaten.

Ireland ‘A’ also got 13 extra runs. Kamal Singh Airee took 3 wickets for Nepal.

Sagar Dhakal and Arif Shaikh also took one wicket each.
