Bagmati Chief Minister Jamkattel seeking vote of confidence on April 1st

KATHMANDU: The Chief Minister of Bagmati State has announced plans to seek a vote of confidence on April 1st, following the submission of a proposal to the State Assembly Secretariat on Friday.

CM Shalikram Jamkattel will face a vote of confidence after losing support from the Nepali Congress party for the state government.

In accordance with the circumstances, the CM is obligated to undergo a confidence vote within 30 days. With 110 members in the State Assembly, CM Jamkattel needs to secure 56 votes to maintain confidence.

It is expected that CM Jamkattel will garner support from the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Hamro Nepali Party to secure the vote of confidence.

Currently, the Bagmati State Assembly consists of 27 lawmakers from CPN-UML, 21 from the Maoist Center, seven from CPN (Unified Socialist), and two from the Hamro Nepali Party.
