KATHMANDU: The Unified Socialist Party Nepal has announced its candidates for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for April 28.

The party has selected Jeet Bahadur Rai for the Ilam-2 constituency and Dil Bahadur Singh for the state assembly from Bajhang as its contenders.

While the decision has been made unofficially, formal approval is pending. “It has been decided that Jeet Bahadur Rai will contest from Ilam and Dil Bahadur Singh from Bajhang, but the party is yet to make an official decision,” stated one party leader. “The party will make an official announcement soon.”

There is anticipation of stiff competition within the ruling coalition for the candidacy.

Both the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre) are also expected to nominate their respective candidates.
