KATHMANDU: Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire’s directive to the government demands urgent action on the queries raised by opposition parties on March 4.

Opposition parties are pressing for answers on critical issues such as the Balkumari incident, farmer grievances, and victims of loan sharking and microfinances.

During a previous session, Speaker Ghimire had urged the government to respond, but Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s absence from Friday’s parliamentary meeting raised concerns.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmakers, along with the CPN-UML, insisted on PM Dahal’s presence, arguing that the meeting could not proceed without him.

Facing opposition obstruction, Speaker Ghimire has now compelled the government to address the opposition’s questions in the upcoming parliamentary session slated for March 4.
