Top leaders’ secret rendezvous with Jaishankar at hotel exposed

It has come to light that prominent figures in Nepal, including the previous Prime Minister, met with Jaishankar at the Dwarikaj Hotel without informing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

KATHMANDU: Key Nepalese authorities have arrived at the hotel to meet with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, according to reports.

It has come to light that prominent figures in Nepal, including the previous Prime Minister, met with Jaishankar at the Dwarikaj Hotel without informing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Although the leaders provided no details regarding this episode, it was brought to light after Jaishankar posted images of the meeting on Twitter.

Former prime minister and President of the ruling party Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, former prime minister and Chair of the opposition party CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister and Chair of the ruling party CPN United Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal reached the hotel to meet Jaishankar.

Similarly, Madhesi leaders Upendra Yadav, Mahanta Thakur, and CK Raut met with Jaishankar.

There was no specific subject or agenda for any of these meetings.

Jaishankar had previously met President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Baluwatar.

In general, the foreign affairs department is in charge of organizing meetings between the country’s leaders and foreign guests. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the other hand, has demonstrated ignorance about the meeting of the Indian Foreign Minister with key dignitaries, including past Prime Ministers.

Amrit Rai, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that no talks with leaders other than the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister had taken place.
