RSP started committee expansion in wards, elections mandatory

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has started the formation of RSP in each ward.

RSP General Minister Mukul Dhakal informed that the schedule for registration of nominations from Ashoj 2 (Sept 19) to 20 (Oct 7), claims, protests from Ashoj 21 (Oct 8) to Kartik 9 (Oct 26) and voting until Kartik 16 has been fixed.

“For the organization of RSP in wards, there was a notice to update the wards formed by the assembly within Ashar 17 (July 2), by Ashar, and according to the organization’s demand, the date for organizing the assembly and updating has been extended twice, and the date for updating has been fixed until Bhadra 31 (Sept 17),” said Dhakal, “During this period, the process of forming the committee has been started by submitting nominations online from the wards that have not been organized.”

He stated that the procedure of legally assembling the wards and forming the ward committee has been halted as of today (Ashoj 2/Sept 19), and that they would now be elected by registering their candidacies and voting via the mobile app.

The Ward Committee will have 11 elected members. Dhakal stated that among the 11 were one Dalit, four women, and six young people under the age of 45.

Ward chairs, vice chairs, and secretaries will be chosen from among those who have been elected.
