KATHMANDU: New Road team NRT has won in Shahid Smarak ‘A’ Division League Football.

NRT defeated FC Khumaltar 3-1 on Tuesday at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Saroj Tamang, Sanjib Bista, and Mohit Gurung each scored one goal to help NRT win. Shyamu Murmu of Khumaltar scored a returned goal.

Saroj scored in the 65th minute to give NRT an early lead. Saroj scored with a header after being unmarked on Sushan Shrestha’s cross. Sanjib scored in the 82nd minute to extend NRT’s lead to 2-0. Sanjib scored on a feed from Kritish Ratna Chhunju that Khumaltar defender Abhishek Limbu couldn’t clear. NRT took a 3-0 lead after Mohit scored in the 85th minute. Kritish Ratna Chhunju’s pass set him up for the goal.

Then, in the game’s 90th minute, Shyamu Murmu scored, but NRT won 3-1. Aside from that, both clubs squandered scoring chances.

Nicolas Song of NRT hit the ball from within the penalty box in the 23rd minute of the game but couldn’t the direction of the post. Khumaltar’s Abhishek Verma’s ‘far range’ effort in the 31st minute was comfortably controlled by NRT goalie Pujan Hona. Saroj Tamang of NRT fired from within the penalty box in the 33rd minute of the game. Saroj of NRT squandered a scoring chance in the 41st minute. Dev Limbu, the goalie for Khumaltar, easily handled Saroj’s free header from six yards out.

Khumaltar’s Stéphane Samir shot from outside the penalty area in the 51st minute, but NRT goalkeeper Pujan Hona easily stopped it. Abishek Limbu’s powerful header from Khumaltar’s Manish Thapa’s cross was barely saved by NRT goalkeeper Pujan Hona in the 56th minute. Saroj Tamang of NRT hit the ball between two defenders in the 58th minute of the game, and it went out near the post.

This is NRT’s second triumph. With the victory, NRT moves up to tenth place with ten points.

Khumaltar has suffered his sixth defeat. Khumaltar has slipped to 11th place after scoring 10 points.
