KATHMANDU: Gagan Kumar Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has stated that he is not in line to become a minister.

In an interactive program on ‘Current government’s economic priorities and contemporary politics’ organized by the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON), he stated that he is not in line to become a minister.

‘I’ve had the responsibility of an MP for the past five years. As General Minister of the Nepali Congress, I will be in charge of everything. ‘I want to be a Member of Parliament.’ ‘I am not going to become a minister, nor can I become one, nor am I becoming one,’ Thapa stated.

He stated that as a member of parliament, he will contribute to the success of the government through parliament.

“I want the Nepali Congress government to be successful while it is in power,” Thapa said. It should not, in my opinion, be measured. It will be determined based on the outcome.’

He stated that if the current government does not produce results, the next five years will be wasted.

‘If this government fails to deliver results, 5 years will be wasted,’ he said, ‘what results we have delivered and what we have not delivered in 5 years is important. This coalition government should be on the way to give that result. Otherwise, the next 5 years will be a waste of the country. Waste of that country is your waste, mine.’
