Prisoner who escaped from the police vehicle arrested

JANAKPURDHAM: A prisoner who escaped from a police vehicle has been arrested in Dhanusha.

Last Sunday evening, the 28-year-old Rajababu Mukhiya of Sabaila Municipality-13, accused in the rape case, absconded while the local police was transporting the accused to Sabaila after the District Court extended the deadline.

Mukhiya, who jumped from the police vehicle and fled, was apprehended near the Nepal-India border, according to the police.

The police said that the joint team of the state police office and the district police office arrested him while he was hiding in the border area.

Last Sunday evening while returning from Janakpur, the arrested Mukhiya jumped from the police car into the Kamala canal and escaped.
