3 cocaine smugglers held with 2.654 kg of drugs
All three women are in police custody as the investigation continues.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested three women for smuggling cocaine worth Rs 80 million.
The suspects include two Ugandan women and one Indian woman, the latter being the intended receiver of the drugs.
According to Bureau spokesperson SP Rameshwor Karki, the first Ugandan woman, aged 44, was apprehended on May 12 in Sinamangal, Kathmandu, carrying 1.260 kg of cocaine in her stomach.
At Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj, 90 capsules of cocaine were retrieved from her stomach.
Subsequently, a second Ugandan woman was arrested in Thamel on Wednesday, found with 1.394 kg of cocaine. In total, 2.654 kg of cocaine, valued at Rs 79.6 million, was seized from the two Ugandan women.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the Indian woman in Thamel, who was supposed to receive the smuggled cocaine.
