KATHMANDU: Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been granted permission by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to be included in the Nepal squad for the T20 World Cup.

The ICC approved the proposal submitted by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to include Sandeep in the World Cup squad.

CAN is now preparing to send Sandeep to the tournament.

Following a fitness test, he is expected to fly to the USA in a few days. Nepal had previously announced their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

However, changes to the team are allowed until the 25th of this month. Consequently, one player from the current squad will need to be removed to make room for Sandeep.

When announcing the team, CAN had already planned for the possibility of including Sandeep later by naming an extra bowler.

The player being replaced by Sandeep will not return from the USA; instead, they will remain there as a reserve player at CAN’s expense.
