176 drivers driving under the influence of alcohol prosecuted

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has prosecuted 3,116 people for breaking traffic laws.

Those drivers were arrested during an investigation conducted by the Valley Traffic Police Office on Monday at various locations throughout Kathmandu.

176 people were taken action for driving under the influence of alcohol, 117 for driving by crossing lanes, 230 for disobeying red lights, 312 for honking in prohibited areas, 68 for not understanding the number plate and changing its shape, and two for other offenses, according to the office. There are 1,213 drivers in total.

The office has also urged everyone to obey traffic laws and drive safely.
