Veteran artist Ganesh Rasik passes away

KATHMANDU: Renowned Nepali literary figure, singer, and composer Ganesh Rasik has passed away.
He breathed his last this morning while undergoing treatment at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur.

According to musician Bulu Mukarung, Rasik’s body will be kept at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital’s morgue, as his daughter—currently in London—is arriving in Nepal tomorrow.
Born in 2004 BS (1947 AD) in Chhinamkhu, Bhojpur, Rasik had been battling prostate cancer for an extended period and was undergoing regular chemotherapy.
Rasik was a multifaceted personality. His timeless songs such as “O Yangji Nana,” “Nunjasto Bilne Jindagilai Dhakarma Bokera,” “Dherai Samjhe Dherai Hunchha,” “Hamro Gharbata Tyamke Danda,” “O Shunyata,” “Gharbeti Nani Aangani Ma Deu Na Malai Bas,” “Nakhielnu Juwa Ra Taas,” and “Rato Bhale Kwanya Kwanya” remain beloved classics.
His literary works include “Kshitijlai Chhuna Khojda” (short stories), “Rasikka Geetharu” (song collection), “Aakash Ganga Ko Otmuni” (novel), “Dashgajama Ubhiayera”, “Jaba Sisnu Haru Tekdai Hide”, and the memoir series “Perunggo” spanning five volumes.
Rasik also served as General Manager from Ratna Recording to the National Dance Theatre, leaving a lasting legacy in Nepal’s cultural landscape.
